Pine trees and eucalyptus have a favourable response to impregnation, like some native or implanted species like the white quebracho and the poplar. Another variety of the pine tree and the eucalyptus are treated in the same way as the previously mentioned.

In most of the tree species from the impermeable zone, a 100% is the sapwood, while the heartwood, because of its structure, does not allow the penetration of the preservative, although sometimes this penetration is allowed, but only superficially.

In the case of the pine tree, at the age when they are habitually cut down, the amount of heartwood is insignificant, so, as a result of this, the heartwood is fully impregnated, making the work much more easier. On the other hand, the eucalyptus has an important amount of heartwood. In Argentina the sapwood of a post seldom overcomes an inch of depth, except in the case of stakes, props or small posts. This means that in the case of the eucalyptus, only the sapwood will be 100% impregnated, remaining the heartwood impregnated only on its exposed part, either on the extremes of the post, the knots, the fissures and cracks or in the immediate vicinity of the sapwood. Nevertheless, experience shows that sapwood impregnation is enough to confer long duration to the eucalyptus post, since by covering the sapwood; the heartwood becomes an effective barrier against the penetration of external agents.

Wood is transported by land to the impregnation plant, where it is classified according to its length and its thickness and where the dampness that exists on the wood is checked. Then, the emptiness pressure impregnation is the most effective method to preserve the wood for internal and external use, since this wood must be put in services in contact with land and water, and exposed to rots or to the attack of insects like the marine xylophages. The practice of this impregnation system with preservatives, forces the use of special facilities equipped with sterilizing units or impregnation cylinders and with necessary complementary accessories like storage deposits, mixture tanks, compressors, hydraulic pumps, emptiness pumps, pressure gauges, vacuum meters, thermometers, etc.

IRAM:

The technical specifications of IRAM 9513-9531-9597 and ANSI 05.1 BRA-AWPA standards are complied with.

Impregnation of poles and conservation of wood Raw material is obtained from mounts of our own or of a third party, the wood we most usually work in Argentina are the Pinus Elliotis and Taeda (pine tree) and the Eucaliptus Saligna and Grandis (eucalyptus).
